About Savoa Online
We are a small editorial desk in Phoenix, Arizona, writing about buildings — how they are designed, how they are costed, and why so many of the famous ones went sideways.
Who we are
Savoa Online (savoaonline.com) is an editorial website operated by Savoa Online LLC from Phoenix, Arizona. We publish long-form, general-interest articles about architecture, construction and the economics that sit underneath both. Our readers are curious non-specialists: people who walk past a building site and wonder what is really going on behind the hoarding.
What we cover
Our subjects are the stories that make buildings interesting to people who do not build them for a living. Cost overruns on landmark projects. The engineering compromises hidden inside famous silhouettes. Why a small civic building can drift further from its budget than a skyscraper. How the ground beneath a site can rewrite a design. We are interested in the decisions, the constraints and the human arguments, not in specifications.
How we write
Every article is written from scratch by our editorial desk. Where we describe a real project, we work from accounts that are widely and publicly reported, and we say plainly when a figure is approximate. Cost reporting for major construction varies between sources depending on what is counted — land, financing, fit-out, later remediation — so we prefer language such as "reported to have cost roughly" over false precision. We do not invent statistics, and we do not present a single source as settled fact.
What we are not
We are not an engineering practice, a cost consultancy, a law firm or a financial adviser, and nothing we publish should be treated as professional advice. We do not review or endorse contractors, and we do not accept payment to write favourably about a project or a company. If you are making decisions about a real building, please talk to qualified professionals who can look at your specific circumstances.
Our editorial values
- Plain attribution. If something is widely reported rather than independently verified by us, we say so.
- Honest ranges. Approximate figures are described as approximate.
- No manufactured urgency. We do not use countdowns, scarcity language or promises of outcomes.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong and you can show us, we will fix it and note the change.
